Episode# 4

Tony made my day - A horrible one as usual

Beginning: What happened at the beginning?

That night I was playing video games and eating pop corn. Mom was reading. She has a reading club. They buy books, read them and then donate them to retirement home for old people. Mom loves to help the retirement home. Because old people have nothing to do and always in other people's hair. Four managers of the retirement home  quit because of this. 

Dad was doing his office work. I was at level-9 in my video game. Mom came to me and turned off the TV. She told me to help her cut the carrot for dinner. I was angry. And then mom told me to make noodles. I did not know how to make noodles, but she, by then, had left. 

Middle: Usually the highest point of action in the story. 

I had no choice, so I tried.  I got the packet of noodles, emptied the packet into a bowl of water on the stove, and poured a lot of catchup. I forgot to boil it, and stirred until the whole mixture turned red. 

Mom came back asking me for a cup of noodles. She saw the red soup of noodles and SCREAMED...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! JACK HAMELTON, don't you know how to boil a cup of noodles? You put hot water and not cold water and you put the ketchup AFTER it boils  out. And not SO MUCH of it!!!"

 I turned red in the face and mom left to have dinner with her friends and dad went to the grocery store and I was babysiting Tony. Tony came to me and whispered in my ear, "if you don't make Mac-n-Cheese in a minute for me, I will tell mom you were playing video games in Billy‘s home leaving me home alone all day long!".  But neither did I know that Tony was eating pop-corn and watching Peppa Pig on TV the whole time. 

So, at least making mac-n-cheese was easy. I could do it in five seconds. But Tony wanted me to make it from scratch. I did not know how to do that!!! But I think I might know who has the recipe. And that is GRANDMA!! 

But Grandma does not give anybody her recipe; she’d rather die of a heart attack. So that only means one thing. I HAVE TO BREAK INTO HER HOUSE!!!

My first time breaking into someone’s house! Grandma won’t mind. So I ran out of the house, without Tony noticing, and raid my bicycle to Grandma’s house. I peaked into her window and saw her playing chess with her friend. I slowly sneaked in through her back yard window that she always keeps open. 

Last time I tried to get a cookie in the middle of the night. Grandma thought I was an intruder and kicked me in the face. Grandma is a black-belter in Karate. But not so much anymore now than she was younger. There are Karate awards all over the living room. 

So this time I tried not to make sound. I sneaked in the kitchen, I went to the safe where she keeps all her secret recipes. And the safe had four digit lock. And I know that the code won’t be easy to guess like 1234. Grandma is smart.

I thought about Grandma’s favourite things to do. And I knew it was COOKIES!!!. I lurked in the oven. Under the tray I found the digits 4 and 8. Next I thought about Grandpa’s favourite things to do. GOLF!!! I went to his golf club bag and peaked in and saw the digits 6 and 7. I got those two papers and put them together 4867. It opened. Grandma might be smart but I am smarter. 

I looked at the clock and saw that I only had 2 minutes left. I ran as fast as could, but neither did I know that I forgot my bicycle in Grandma’s backyard. I made it to the kitchen, and I made mac-n-cheese from scratch and put it in front of Tony’s face. He asked me to get him some orange juice. Just when I was bringing the juice, mom came in!!! While mom was talking to her friend, Tony quickly changed into an apron and pushed me into the chair, and told me to order him whatever I want. 

Mom closed the main door and came in. Tony was begging me to stop. I was confused Mom came into the kitchen and asked me what was going on. Before I opened my mouth, Tony told her I was ordering him around the whole time. I tried to tell mom, but mom did not listen and told me I was grounded for two months. 

Ending: How did everything finally work out?

Just then the phone rang and mom picked it up. Grandma told her that I had left my bike in her backyard and two recipes from her safe were missing. Without saying ‘bye’ to Grandma, mom hung up the phone and came to me with a red face and told me that I was grounded for 5 months and I couldn’t watch TV for three weeks. 

I was so mad I went to my bedroom and slammed the door. That’s my fifth terrible day in one week because of Tony.
